Easy center idea for upper elementary students. I have used this successfully with 3rd graders in my Media Center. They LOVE being able to research a topic of THEIR choice!
This reproducible gives students a structured research process for them to follow using an ONLINE ENCYCLOPEDIA entry.
They are guided to pick a topic, ask questions about it, locate the online encyclopedia your school uses, write notes on the back, and write the bibliographic information for their article.
Includes I Can statements to post at your center.
This is a FUN way for your students to review finding call numbers in your library!
There are 3 sets of Scavenger Hunt Task Cards to cover the Easy, Fiction and Nonfiction areas of your library. Each set has 12 task cards to find, so there are 36 Task Cards total. For the questions, I used books and book series that would most likely be found in the majority of elementary libraries.
Blank answer sheets are provided in which the clip art matches the card they are hunting.
Answers are included.
EDITABLE!! These are PowerPoint files and totally editable since I used Creative Commons clip art. Add or change anything you wish to meet the needs of your library!
* Please note: This file has a license for one teacher to use/modify for his/her classroom only. This file is not for commercial use and may not be modified and resold.
My elementary students love the Knuffle Bunny series, so we decided to use the illustrative technique ourselves.
In this packet you will get directions for the activity and two full-sized playground pictures ready to photocopy in black and white. The students make colorful cartoon characters to put into the setting and tell a story about their illustration.
I've included a scan of the reproducible I purposely drew by hand for the students. This took the fear of drawing out of the activity. Many even came up and added more to the projected copy for the class to see!
Main directions are in PDF and the pictures are in a PowerPoint file.

In this presentation, you will find step-by-step directions on how to teach your students how to use an iPad and the iMotion HD app to create stop motion animation movies.
I share how to make this work and the tips I learned along the way - from planning to presenting so that you can hit the ground running.

Both of these also have a no line version.
Students can add their own decorative touches to it after they fill it out.
I like to play Book Care BINGO with my Kindergarten classes after we learn the Book Care Rules. I have found that pairing them up on a card works best because many of them have never played Bingo before.
In this set, you will find Calling Cards to cut out and use and 16 different Bingo cards.
You will need to cut some squares out of construction paper to use as Bingo chips.
We have a lot of fun with this game and stickers are a perfect prize for the winning pairs.
